As a beginner, is there anything important I need to know?

May I watch a class to see what it is like? May I visit the studio?

We sincerely regret that we do not allow visitors during classes not only for students' privacy, but also because we recommend that you experience a class, rather than observing it, in order to decide if it is right for you.

You may visit FURLA yoga before or after scheduled class times to view the studio or meet class instructors. As there is no receptionist, the studio is generally not open at other times. When you do visit, please enter quietly and respect the class start and finish times.

Thanks for your understanding, and please join us for your first class soon.

What should I wear?
You should wear clothing that enables you to move easily yet is fairly form fitting so that it doesn't get in the way. A fitted t-shirt and gym pants are fine. Please remove large jewelry, refrain from wearing strong perfume and expect to be barefoot for class. There is a changing space with shelves and hangers available in the studio. We apologize but there are no showers available.

Do I need a mat?
Furla Yoga has yoga mats available at no charge for student use. We encourage you to try mats out to find a mat type that suits you. You can then purchase your own mat when you are ready.

Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are strongly recommended for all classes, however students without reservations are always welcome! Please be aware that classes will fill up quickly.

You can easily make a reservation for any class on the schedule by using our convenient online reservation system (see below).

How do I make a reservation?
To make a reservation please log in first. If you would like to make a reservation and you are not a member please sign up through our join page. Becoming a member will give you a username and password that you will use to reserve classes. (Membership is free!)

After choosing a class of the appropriate level (in Class Descriptions), please go to the Schedule page to choose a day and class time. The rest is easy: just follow the directions at the top of the Schedule page to make a reservation for your chosen class!

If you cannot attend class please cancel your reservation so someone else may attend. Space is limited so please be considerate.

How do I cancel a reservation?
Please login with your username and password, then go to "My Page". All classes you have reserved will appear on that page, and may be cancelled from that page.

Do men do yoga?
Yes!  They certainly do!  Although yoga is more popular with women, the number of male students is increasing, and we encourage you to join.  All you need is a t-shirt and pair of comfortable pants, a flexible mind and an open heart.

Can I attend a bilingual (J/E) class even if I do not speak Japanese?
Yes, please do! The instructor will teach in both English and Japanese as needed. If all students speak Japanese, the class will be held in Japanese. If, however, even one student speaks only English, the instructor will conduct the class in both English and Japanese. Rest assured your needs will be met, and you will have a great class!
